Nawada, Feb 23 (UNI) Seven suspected naxalites were arrested today while trying to flee with an explosives-laden truck from Makhar village under Akbarpur police station area in the district.
Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar here said, ''We were informed that the proscribed Maoist guerillas were planning an attack and would pass through the area with explosives.'' Acting on the tip-off, police began checking every vehicle passing through the area for the last 15 days, Mr Kumar said adding when a truck driver was asked to stop this morning near Makhar village on National Highway 31 he speeded up and tried to escape.
But police chased the vehicle and arrested seven suspected naxalites with 8,640 detonators(120 kg), six tonnes gelatine wire, ten kg fuse wire and three sets of cellphones. They also seized a Maruti van along with the truck.
''The seized truck was coming from Guna in Madhya Pradesh to Bihar's Munger district to deliver the explosives at various destinations, including Nawada and Sheikhpura on the way,'' the SP said adding those arrested were being interrogated.
The arrested are Manan Singh and Raju from Madhya Pradesh and Subodh Singh, Sanoj Kumar, Munna Kumar, Karu Ravi Das and Dyanand Kumar from Bihar.
