Jamshedpur, Feb 23 (UNI) Sports Authority of India(SAI), Delhi, trounced Salgaokar Sports Club of Goa by 5-3, while Sesa Football Academy of Goa won by a solitary goal against Dempo Sports Club in the JRD Tata youth Cup(Under-19) Invitational Football Tournament at the JRD Tata Sports Complex here today.
Salgaokar opened account in the 18th minute through Perryson Rebello and again Gilbert Oliveita found net in the 35th minute to give the Goan team 2-0 lead.
However, launching a counter-attack, the Delhi team came back strongly when striker Ram Chandra Marandi scored in the 39th minute and Swapap Nafta scored the equaliser in the injury time of the first half as both the teams tied 2-2 during breather.
The two teams played spirited football in the second session and S Santatan Singh scored soon after the break(49th minute) to put his team 3-2 ahead. Marandi consolidated the Delhi outfit further with his second goal in the 61st minute(4-2). Substitute Nadung Bhuita increased the lead(5-2) for the Delhi team in the 85th minute.
Salgaokar managed to reduce the margin of defeat in the injury time(92nd minute) when mid-fielder Cajetan Fernandes' header found the net(5-3).
While the first match saw flurry of goals, the second match played between the two Goan teams Sesa and Dempo, the scenario was just opposite as both the teams were locked goaless till the first half.
Dempo substitute McKenz Fernandes scored the lone goal for his team in the 68th minute (1-0). Dempo could have won by bigger margin had its strikers not misseda number of sitters.
