Probe into SIMI activist launched
Kozhikode, Feb 23 (UNI) Police today said it has launched an investigation to find out the activities of suspected SIMI activist Mohammad Yahya Kamukutty, who was arrested in Bangalore on February 21.
The District Rural Superintendent of Police K Natarajan told UNI that the team was pursuing various angles by launching a probe at his native Mukkam to find out more details about his activities during his frequent visits to the locality.
Mr Natarajan said the Bangalore police, which arrested him on Thursday night, did not contact the local police in connection with the investigation so far.
An engineering graduate from Regional Engineering College, now National Institute of Technology-Calicut (NITC), Kamukutty, hails from Nellikkamparamba, Mukkam in this district.
