Man held for getting son abducted for money
Lucknow, Feb 23 (UNI) Police here today arrested a man along with his two associates for getting his 12-year-old son abducted with an intention to extract money from his father, who is a former MLA.
Mohd Saad, grand-son of ex-MLA Rafi Siddiqui, was kidnapped by a woman in burqua (veil), when he had gone to offer namaaz in Asharfabad area of the old city yesterday, Police Superintendent Akhil Kumar said.
Later, the accused called up Mr Siddiqui to demand ransom.
In a quick action, police traced out the PCO from where the kidnappers had called up and found their motorcycle number.
Police found that the motorcycle belonged to Noor Alam, the driver of abducted's father Mohd Fasi Siddiqui.
After abduction, the child was taken to Shivgarh resorts by Noor Alam's wife Sultana and her younger sister Rehana.
On a tip off, police cordoned off the resort and swooped upon the accused father along with his two women accomplices.
On interrogation, Fasi confessed to the crime, saying he did so to extract money from his father.
Later, with the fear of being caught, Fasi ordered the kidnappers to release his son.
Efforts were underway to arrest absconding Noor Alam the drive, the SP said, adding that the winning police team had been awarded with Rs 10,000.
Besides, PCO owner Adil had been awarded with Rs 1,000 for providing information about the accused.
