Inquiry ordered into recovery of fake explosives in J
Jammu, Feb 23 (UNI) Doda Range DIG has ordered a fact-finding inquiry into the ''fake'' recovery of explosive and ammunition a day before the day-long visit of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to snow-affected areas in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said today.
On February 21, a dump of explosives including four-kg RDX, two Chinese grenades, a UBGL, two detonators, seven AK rounds, four PIKA rounds, a wireless set, a mobile charger and a pouch were recovered by security forces in Chinote village of Bhaderwah town.
''The local police showed ignorance about the recovery of the ammunition and explosives,'' sources said, adding panic gripped the entire Bhaderwah town where Ms Gandhi had to meet the snow-hit people.
''A fact-finding inquiry has been ordered and if some discrepencies are found, we will seek an explanation from the security forces that recovered explosives from the site just short of 700 m from the venue, where Ms Gandhi had to interact with the people,'' senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Manohar Singh told UNI.
However, DIG Doda Range Farooq Khan has ordered a probe into the matter under the supervision of the Doda SSP for further necessary action.
