Helpline to cure 'board' fever in UAE
Dubai, Feb 23 (UNI) The Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) has started its first phase of counselling session here to assist students overcome examination related stress.
With over 30 schools affiliated to the CBSE in the UAE, the board has started helpline, which will be functional till March 31. The helpline is in operation for the eleventh year and is designed keeping in mind the heterogeneity of pupil population and geographical spread.
The tele-counselling is free and is offered by trained counsellors and principals of CBSE affiliated schools.
Students , appearing for the examination often faced anxiety leading to forgetfulness. Expectations from families to get excellent grades were stressful.
''Many a times, parents feel dejected if the child fails to get scores. This should not be the case. They should understand that their child has done his best.'' the Gulf news quoted student Ashraf Hussain as saying.
Students felt the need for a helpline for parents to be established as well. ''I am confident that I will do well but my parents think otherwise. They tend to be more stressed about the board exam than me,'' Gunjan, a class 12 student, said.
