Former Congress MLA Gosalia demands CM's intervention
Mumbai, Feb 23 (UNI) Former Congress MLA Chandrakant Gosalia today said the recently-revised fares of the Brihanmumbai Electricity and Transport (BEST) Undertaking buses by the management had led to confusion among passengers.
The BEST Undertaking had slashed its minimum fares from Rs four to Rs three on February 1, to meet competition from the shared taxis and autorickshaws.
''The management has misled the passengers by altering changes in the distance of stages on which rates are applied,'' he said.
Gssalia has also urged Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Mumbai city Congress President and MP, Gurudas Kamat to intervene in the issue in the interest of the passengers.
The Undertaking, with a fleet of 3400 buses, is in red for a long time. In the last couple of years. the losees have mounted to Rs 200 crore.
