Bhubaneswar, Feb 23 (UNI) Construction work for the Culture University at Madanpur village in the outskirts of the capital city will commence soon, Culture Minister Suryanarayan Patra told the State Assembly today.
Replying to a question by Mr Pratap Chandra Sarangi(BJP), the Minister said the government had already allotted a 46.185-acre land for the purpose.
State-owned Industrial Development Corporation has been assigned the duty of the construction.
The construction work would be taken up in phases and the university would be shifted to its new venue after the construction work was over.
The Minister said the government has already advertised for recruitment of 19 professors in various departments. Presently, four contractual and 64 guest faculties were taking classes in the university.
Under the current budget, a provision of Rs 1.30 crore under plan sector and Rs 15.50 lakh in the non-plan sector had been made for the university.
Out of the Rs 1.30 crore, Rs one crore was meant for the construction of permanent building for the university, he said.
Mr Patra said an inquiry is being conducted on the allegation of irregularties in the MPLAD fund given to the university for construction of university building.
He said that in 2001, Parliamentarians Prsan Patsani and Ranganath Mishra had given Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 11 lakh for the construction of the academic block, library building and conference hall. The construction wing of the OUAT was given the contract and they had submitted a utilisation cenrtificate, the Minister said.
