Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) The Maharashtra State Sub Junior Athletic Meet, organised by the Mumbai Suburban District Athletic Association (MSDAA), will be held from February 26 to 28, at the Andheri Sports Complex.
Open to all the affiliated districts of Maharashtra, the meet has attracted over 1600 athletes from 25 districts of the state.
The tournament will have 40 events for boys and girls between the age group eight and 14.
''All the athletes will be provided with free accommodation and boarding for all the three days. The first three winners in each event will be awarded cash prizes. In addition, there will be the Overall Boys and Girls awards and the Overall Best District award,'' revealed MSDAA president Akhtar H Rizvi at a media conference here today.
The categories include, Under-14, Under-12, Under-10 and Under-8. The organisers will also conduct special events for the Under-6 and Under-8 to identify fresh talent so that they can train and nurture them for the future.
The inter-school march-past competition and a cultural programme will also be conducted as part of the inauguration ceremony on February 27 at 1000 hrs, the organisers announced on the occasion.
Awards will also be presented to the winners and runners-up in the march-past as per the announcement.
