Sonia, Patil meet snow-affected people in Jammu
Jammu, Feb 22 (UNI) UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, accompanied by Union Home Minister Shiv Raj Patil, today visited the snow-hit areas of Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir during her day-long visit, official sources here said.
The sources said Ms Gandhi, along with Mr Patil and a high-level Home minister delegation, arrived at the Udhampur Air Force Station.
''She was received by Union Minister for Water Resources and newly elected JKPCC chief Saifuddin Soz, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti,'' the sources told UNI.
Ms Gandhi also visited Bhaderwah, the hometown and assembly constituency of Mr Azad, which had recorded the heaviest snowfall of seven feet in the town and 14-15 feet in the upper reaches.
''She interacted with the people in the town who apprised her of the difficulties they faced due to the snowfall,'' the sources added.
