Moscow, Feb 22 (UNI) The Guinness World Records has recognised 103-year-old Russian Moses Feigin as the world's oldest professional artist.
''The oldest professional artist is Moses Aleksandrovich Feigin (Russia, b 23 October 1904),'' Guinness World Records' spokesperson Beatriz Fernandez said.
''His details have now been incorporated onto our database which holds around 40,000 records,'' Russian news agencies quoted Ms Fernandez as saying.
She added that someone else made an application on the artist's behalf as he was in hospital at the time.
Mr Feigin is the last surviving member of the Knave of Diamonds, a Russian union of avant-garde, established in Moscow in the early 20th century.
His latest exhibition, displaying his works after his 100th birthday, was held at the Central House of the Artist in the capital city, in 2007.
However, the Guinness World Records cannot guarantee that the record of the Russian artist will be mentioned in the annual printed edition as only approximately 3,000 records of 40,000 are published.
''Based on the mentioned volume, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that a record will make it onto the book, this is an editorial decision,'' Ms Fernandez said.
Mr Feigin will receive a certificate confirming his record and the right to use the Guinness Book trademark and logo for his commercial purposes.
