Maharashtra prevail over Delhi

Chandigarh, Feb 22 (UNI) Maharashtra got the better of Delhi by 4-2 in the men's match of the National Baseball Championship being jointly organized by the Sports Excellence Academy, Baseball Federation of India and Women Baseball Federation of India here today.

Shanker, Jaideep, Vishal and Mohan scored one point each for the winners while, Pratap reduced the margin for Delhi with a brace.

Chandigarh had to utilise all their resources as they just managed to beat Madhya Pradesh by a solitary points scored by Mohammad.

Delhi had a mixed luck in the women's category. In their first match today, Punjab outclassed them in all departments of the game beating them by 11-0. However, Delhi outplayed West Bengal 17-7.

Shilpi, Renu and Meenakshi scored three points each for the winners.

Results Men: Chandigarh (Mohammad 1) bt Madhya Pradesh 1-0. Himachal Pradesh (Rajesh, Ankush 2 each, Ruhal P, Gurdeep, Abhijeet, Kishore Pawan, Deepak and Rahul 1 each) bt Uttar Pradesh by 11-0. Maharashtra (Shanker, Jaideep, Vishal and Mohan 1 each) bt Delhi (Pratap 2) 4-2.

Haryana (Satyajit, Ravin, Sandeep, Vipin and Amit 2 each) bt West Bengal by 10-0. Orissa (Chinmay, Hirasad, Amit 2 each, Gautam, Parnab and Aquish 1 each) bt Himachal Pradesh 10-0. Chandigarh (Brij, Ravinder 2 each) bt Haryana (Satyajit, Ravin, Sandeep one each) by 4-3.

Women: Punjab (Gurpreet, Jaslin, Rajwinder, Navjot 2 each, Manju, Pardeep, Kanwaljit, Sangeeta, Neha 1 each) bt Delhi 11-0. Delhi (Shilpi, Renu, Meenakshi 3 each, Taruna, Biraj, Rekha, Anjali 2 each) bt West Bengal 17-7. Chandigarh (Suman, Sarita, Gurpreet, Lala, Leela, Anju 2 each, Latesh, Hema, Kiran 1 each) bt Uttar Pradesh 15-0.
