Kathmandu, Feb 22: A Nepalese aide to the kidney scam kingpin Amit Kumar was today arrested by a special team of the Armed Police from a village in Saptari district Pankaj Jha, 34, was arrested from his house in Barhibirpur village of Saptari district in eastern Terai and has been handed over to the Saptari district police office.
Police had launched a manhunt to trace Jha on the basis of the statement by Dr Kumar. Dr Kumar, an Indian national, was arrested on February 6 from a hotel in Sauraha of Chitwan and deported to India later. Jha has been charged with involvement in the kidney transplant racket, The Himalayan Times quoted Superintendent of Police Bikram Singh Thapa as saying.
The SP said Jha, who was a manager of a nursing home in Kathmandu, has confessed to his involvement in the kidney racket.
''Jha is being questioned and we are yet to piece together all the facts,'' added Mr Thapa.
