Gurung terms Ghisingh's fleeing to Kolkata as "great victory''
Siliguri, Feb 22 (UNI) Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) president Bimal Gurung today described GNLF supremo Subhas Ghising's fleeing to Kolkata as a a ''great victory''.
'' We are planning to go to Gorkha Bhawan in Kolkata, where Mr Ghising had put up and gherao it. He is like a poison in the hills, '' he said.
Mr Gurung said this bore an ample testimony to the fact that the West Bengal Government was not attaching any importance to their demand of Gorkhaland. Had it not been so, the Sixth Schedule status was not accorded, he added.
Meanwhile, he said the hunger strike would continue, adding out of the 110 people, who were on fast, the condition of four to five was stated to be critical.
Darjeeling District Magistrate Rajesh Pandey visited them this evening.
Mr Gurung said if Sixth Schedule status was not cancelled and Mr Ghisingh not removed fron the post, their indefinite general strike would continue.
