Mysore, Feb 22 (UNI) Congress leader and Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Siddramiah today said that his party will extend its full support to the sugar cane growing farmers in their fight for hike in Minimum Support Price (MSP) by Rs 200 per tonne.
Speaking to newsmen here, he said that the farmers demand was justified. Congress has already submitted a memorandum justifying the demand for hike to the Governor Rameshwar Thakur.
Referring to BJP's demand for early mid-term election to the State Legislative Assembly, he questioned why should the BJP make such a demand, was it afraid of not winning if the elections were held after May." "Even the Congress also desired for early polls but only after the delimitation of the Assembly constituencies were completed and Congress was ready to face elections any time, however, the Election Commission being an independent body would decide on the dates for the polls", he remarked.
Alleging that there was a dearth of candidates for BJP in 100 assembly constituencies, Mr Siddaramaiah predicted that BJP would not cross 50 seats in the assembly elections. "There was no sympathy on BJP party as they (BJP) claimed", he added.
