Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Jairaj Phatak today said the civic body has increased the development funds of the local ward office to Rs 1.10 crore from Rs 35 lakh per year.
Speaking at a news conference here, Mr Phatak said the budgetary provisions of the corporation had increased and an area with a population of 50,000 will get an additional fund of Rs 1 crore for developmental purposes.
He said ''With the rising population, the demand for better facilities increases in a ward, hence the BMC has come out with an additional fund.'' Each corporator gets Rs 35 lakh as funds every year to carry out developmental works in a ward. Now, he can avail from the extra alloted funds in case of any pending projects in the ward.
