India welcomes Pak polls, hopes to resume talks
New Delhi, Feb 21, 2008 : India on February 20 welcomed the Pakistan polls, hoping it would pave the way soon for resumption of peace talks between the neighbours. Navtej Sarna, Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that people of Pakistan have been able to express themselves "in a democratic manner".
Sarna expressed hope that India might be able to resolve outstanding issues and resolve deadlock on the six-decade-old contentious Kashmir dispute.
