PML-Q to sit in opposition: Pervez Elahi

Lahore, Feb.21: Former Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi today announced that the PML-Q would sit in opposition in the assemblies.

Addressing a press conference here, Elahi said that the PML-Q along with allied parties secured more number of popular votes than Muslim League (N) in the general elections. He expressed satisfaction on overall performance of PML-Q and said while sitting in opposition, PML-Q would carry out constructive criticism on the government.

Meanwhile, the three major winners in the recent polls -- Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and Awami National Party leaders have begun talks for formation of a government at the Centre.

PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari, PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Awami National Party leader Asfandyar Wali are holding consultations here in a meeting to reach on consensus over some crucial issues such as restoration of the deposed judges, strengthening of the national institutions, future of the president and other major issues.

The central executive committee of Pakistan Peoples Party held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the post-election scenario, while the PML-N central working committee is meeting today in Islamabad.
