Dhaka, Feb 21: Bangladesh's detained former prime minister Sheikh Hasina was sent back to makeshift jail in Parliament building complex this afternoon after a medical check-up at Square Hospital here. Sheikh Hasina, arrested in connection with an extortion case on July 16 last year, has been suffering from several health complications including high blood pressure, allergy and hearing problem caused by the impact of deadly grenade blasts at her rally in Dhaka on August 21, 2004.
DIG (prison) Major Shamsul Haider Siddiqui told mediapersons that a ten-member medical team conducted her check-up for several hours. Since the doctors did not advise her to get admitted to the hospital, she was taken back to the prison, he added. The former premier was brought to the hospital at about 1000 hrs (local time) amidst tight security.
She was taken back to the jail at about 1315 hrs (local time).
