New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Haryana Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh and Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda today met and urged UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to ask the Centre to announce a package of incentives for the small farmers.
Mr Singh and Mr Hooda were joined by thousands of farmers from different parts of Haryana who assembled at Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's Delhi residence.
During the meeting, they apprised the Congress President about the plight of the farmers in the state as they had suffered a loss of around Rs 500 crores due to frost during the winter season and the farmers needed to be compensated immediately.
They said though the State Government had initiated a number of steps for improving the conditions of the farmers, but now it was the Centre's turn to help the State.
