Hyderabad, Feb 21 (UNI)Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the State Government was implementing the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme(NREGP) with utmost accountability and in a transparent manner.
Replying to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor's address in ths Legislative Council here, he said the programme was very useful for the rural poor and would reduce migration from the villages to cities.
The government was conducting social audit on the programme for transparency and to avoid misuse in its implementation.
According to records nearly 24 lakh poor people were working under this programme in the State and the government had recovered Rs 68 lakhs during the social audit.
An amount of Rs 2,016 crore had been spent under the NREGP being implemented in 13 districts in the State since 2006.
