Blueline buses spreading death on city roads: HC
New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today said Blueline buses are major killers as they caused most of the road accidents in the Capital.
Hearing a petition filed by the parents of a Blueline victim, Justice Kailash Gambhir cited the data prepared by the Delhi police stating that Blueline buses have caused 8270 accidents in 2006 causing deaths of 2050 commuters.
The petitioners have moved the court to enhance compensation against the death of their 20-year-old son in 1999 due to a rampaging Blueline bus.
The petition mentioned how the insurance company was causing probems in providing the compensation.
Justice Gambhir not only ordered the enhancement of the compensation but also pulled up the insurance company.
''They have a tendency to create bottlenecks. Can the compensation make up the loss of a life?'' the judge asked the company.
''Death of a human being shattered the entire family. More so, when the deceased is the only bread winner of it. A man dying in his prime youth is also a blow to society,'' Justice Gambhir said.
