Air India to distribute RANK and BOLT awards on Monday
Panaji, Feb 21 (UNI) Air India will distribute ''RANK'' and ''BOLT'' awards for talented students and teachers respectively at the International Centre here on Monday.
The airline had organised RANK (Race for Awareness and Knowledge) and BOLT (Broad Outlook-Learner-Teacher) competitions for students and teachers of Goa respectively for the year 2007-08 in collaboration with the Herald newspaper as its media partner recently.
Two state winners, Gladwyn D'Souza and Dr Manoj Borkar Khan, were among the 125 winners from across the country besides media partners and friends who were flown to Singapore recently as the guests of Air India.
While Gladwyn is the student of St Ann's Highschool, Bardez, Dr Borkar is a teacher at the Carmel College for Women.
The awards, instituted to recognise excellence outside the field of academics, were designed to ignite the creative talents among the students and the teachers, according to Air India Goa Manager Manjiri Shirodkar here today.
Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Nitin Kunkollenkar will be the chief guest at the award distribution function, Mrs Shirodkar said.
