Bangalore, Feb 20: The Kannada Balaga of United Kingdom, an association of 1500 families hailing from Karnataka, would celebrate its 25th year of existence by organising a three-day gala event at Alvaston Hall in Cheshire near Manchester from August 22.
It will be a vibrant with music, humour and dance and a team of renowned artists and writers is being flown in from India and from other countries, Balaga President K S Bhanumathi said. Briefing reporters about the Silver Jubilee function here today, she said the event would showcase to the world the rich language, culture, and heritage of Karnataka. Delegates from the Middle East, US, Europe and Australia would also be coming to attend the function, she said.
Renowned Kannada poet Prof K S Nissar Ahmed would be among the literary figures attending the function.
A workshop on writing in Kannada and sending emails in Kannada would also be held on the occasion, Dr Bhanumathi added.
