Agartala, Feb 20 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today apprehended that a conspiracy was being hatched to jeopardise the February 23 Assembly election in the state.
'' A spectre of chaos is staring and we will have to remain alert and keep the confidence to foil such bids, '' Mr Sarkar said, adding the militants were trying to disturb the peaceful polling process in remote areas of the state.
Commenting on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's aspersion on the Left Front Government, Mr Sarkar charged Ms Gandhi with making all "incorrect" statements.
'' Where she has been for the past five years. Did she take care of the state after she came here five years ago before the last election? I do not want to say more, but people will reply to the Congress allegation through ballots, '' he averred.
He said, '' It's not her fault. She does not know the country thoroughly. Congress leaders are feeding her wrong information. '' '' The Congress has already anticipated its defeat. The Prime Minister also witnessed a flop show yesterday, '' he quipped.
In an election rally on February 18, Ms Gandhi accused the Left Front government of being ''inefficient, careless and having failed to utilise the huge Central fund for development, '' while he Prime Minister termed the state government a ''slow performer'' in implementing Central schemes.
