Mumbai, Feb 20: Major online portal Rediff.com launched an email-based campaign ''Ek Rediffmail Bhejke Toh Dekho'' to tackle the rising menace of eve teasing and spotlight the issue of shrinking open spaces in the metros.

Speaking on the occasion yesterday, Rediff Vice President Marketing and E-commerce Manish Aggarwal said the Rediffmail portal would act as a catalyst where account holders around the country would exchange reports and updates to friends within and outside the portal and build pressure groups. Users can also seek help or decide to support the 100 NGOs listed to fight the menace and preservation of open spaces.

Mr Aggarwal said that according to a survey, a woman is sexually harassed every 51 minutes and molested every 21 minutes. And on the issue of open spaces, the international norm is four acres for every thousand people while Bombay can only offer 0.03 acres.

''Though there are hundreds of issues, we have focussed on eve teasing and lack of open spaces as they are serious issues concerning women and young children in particular,'' he added.
