Ludhiana, Feb 20 : Residents of Ludhiana blocked railway movement on Tuesday to voice their concerns over a Punjab Government plan to privatise public utilities.
Workers and farmers of at least 18 organisations blocked main railway routes.
"The Punjab Government should not go ahead with its plans for the privatization of the Punjab Electricity Board and drinking water distribution," said Vijay Kumar, one of the protestors.
The movement of trains bound for New Delhi was delayed on Tuesday as a result of the blockade.
Protesters said the privatization of public utilities would hit the common man hard.
Punjab Government officials were not available for comment on the issue.
