Srinagar, Feb 20 (UNI) Expressing the hope that victory of democracy in Pakistan will help to address all outstanding issues between India and Pakistan peacefully, National Conference (NC) patron Dr Farooq Abdullah today complimented President Parvez Musharraf and people of neighbouring country for peaceful polls.
Victory of democracy in Pakistan has generated a ray of hope in the sub-continent that all issues, including the vexed Kashmir issue, will now be resolved peacefully, former Chief Minister said while addressing his party workers at Ganderbal today.
He said President Musharraf has played a historic role in holding free, fair and peaceful polls. We compliment him, his government and people of Pakistan, he said.
Dr Abdullah said now a democratic government will soon take over in Pakistan, which is not only good for that country, but for entire South Asia.
Now the friendship between India and Pakistan would strengthen more, he said and send his good wishes to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for its victory in the polls. He said the party would uphold the principals of its assassinated leader Benazir Bhutto and work for strengthening the democracy.
Dr Abdullah also expressed the hope that PPP would work for taking ahead the friendship and peace process with India.
