Music can strengthen Indo-Pak relations: Ghulam Ali
Agra, Feb 20 (UNI) Ghazal king Ghulam Ali has contended that music has the power to strengthen relations between India and Pakistan.
The ghazal maestro who had been entrancing people of the subcontinent for many decades now, showed his magic voice still ruled the hearts by his performance at the annual Taj Majotsav here.
''Artists of India and Pakistan have become the messengers of cultural diplomacy between the two nations. This is why Indo-Pak relations were at ease,''he contended, adding that ''people associated with music were persistently adding sweetness to the Indo-Pak relations but sadly, there are few who want to destroy the jovial atmosphere.'' Criticising the experiments being done in ghazal singing he termed ghazal as synonymous with romance. It is generally heard with eyes closed. Therefore, it needs to be dipped in the molasses of classical music and be kept miles away from Indipop trend of music.'' The Mahotsav is lined up with a number performances from various well known artists from both India and Pakistan. Tonight, Pakistani singer Atif Aslam will steal the show with his magical voice.
