Maoists ask people through posters to observe bandh
Jhargram, Feb 20 (UNI) The walls in Jhargram town were covered with Maoists posters asking the people to observe a day-long bandh tomorrow in West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh.
West Midnapore Superintendent of Police today said the posters were, however, immediately removed.
The bandh was called in protest against the recent killing of seven Maoist leaders in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district on January 13.
Two of the deceased, Bikash and Ranjit, were involved in several murder cases, including that of Jhamshedpur MP Sunil Mahto's. They were also involved in the Nandigram killings.
Security had been beefed up to avoid any untoward incident in the district tomorrow.
Red alert had been sounded at all bordering police stations, the SP said.
