Tripura Gov calls for free and fair polls

Kohima, Feb 20: Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayanan today reiterated that the Government is committed to conducting a peaceful, free and fair elections and called upon the people to elect their true representative.

In a message to the people of Nagaland ahead of the March 5 Assembly elections, the Governor said that by two weeks from today, the people of Nagaland will exercise their franchise to elect members to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and their own Government. He appealed to the candidates and political parties to undertake the campaign and elections in the healthiest manner.

''It is democratic to criticize policies or enunciate one's own policies but we should not indulge in anything that divides the society or is anywhere near to what the Election Commission describes as violation of Model Code of Conduct,'' he said.
