Bhubaneswar, Feb 20 (UNI) The Union Government has approved altogether 14 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to be set up in Orissa, Industries minister Biswabhushan Harichandan told the state assembly today.
Replying to a question of Nagireddy Narayan Reddy (CPI), the minister said the Centre had given permission to Tata Steel Private Limited at Gopalpur, IDCO and POSCO at Paradip, for setting up of the multipurpose SEZs.
However, the Centre was yet to issue notice for starting work for these three SEZs, he added.
Mr Harichandan said the land acquisition for the POSCO project was in progress.
For Tata project, the Government had handed over about 2656.535 acres of land. The process for acquisition of a patch of land spread over 215 acres (both government and private) was on.
Identification of about 2700 acres of land for IDCO in Paradeep's Marshaghai Tahasil area was also in progress, the minister said.
Compensation at the prevailing rate had been given to owners for acquiring about 2235.971 acres of land at Laxmipur, Sindhigaon, Mansurkota, Jaganathpur, Basanaputi, Chamakandi and Badarpur villages for the Tata project in Gopalpur, the minister said.
He said notification had been issued for three of the SEZs- at Chandka Industrial estate by IDCO for IT, Kalinganagar by Jindal Stainelss Ltd for stainless steel and downstream industries at Chandaka Industrial estate by DLF universal for setting up of an INFO park.
The project envisaged to set up a knowledge park at Audakashipur, Bhubaneswar, metallurgical based engineering and downstream at Kalinganagar, BPO at Mancheswar (ALL by IDCO), aluminium plant and captive power plant at Jharsuguda by Vedanta Alumina Ltd, Tata Steel's multipurporpose project at Gopalpur and Hindalco Industries Ltd's Aluminium project at Lapanga in Sambapur have got formal approval.
Mr Haricharan Genpact, India's IT project in Bhubanewar, IDCO's Multi-product SEZ at Paradip, POSCO India Private lTD 's multi product SEZ at Paadip, Saraf Agencies Private Ltd's Beach Sand Mineral at Chhatrapur and Welspun Group's Textile and Garmet project at Chowdwar have got formal approval.
