New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Singapore will host the first ever F1 Grand Prix night race on September 28.
Announcing this here today, Deputy Chairman of Singapore GP, Colin Syn said,''We have pulled out all the stops to ensure that the teams and the spectators get a first class experience at the inaugural 2008 FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix come September 2008.'' ''The street circuit will ensure that the visitors are right in the heart of the racing action,'' he added.''It is also minutes away from the Marina Bay's shopping, accomodation, entertainment and fine dining districts - further enhancing the whole race day experience for all the visitors.'' Singapore received in-principal approval from the Federation Internationale de I'Automobile (FIA) on September 28 last year.
The proposed 5.o67 km long street circuit will offer multiple overtaking opportunities as well as fast and challenging turns.
With a track designed to put up technical challenges for the drivers, it is expected to be one of the fastest street circuits with speeds reaching upto 300 km per hour.
It will be one of only three anti-clockwise tracks on the calendar alongside Turkey and Brazil.
