Tripura: CM, among eight, in election code violation

Agartala, Feb 20 (UNI) On the instruction of the observers, the Sector Officers in Sonamura Sub-Division of West Tripura have lodged complaints against eight candidates of four constituencies, including Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

Tripura state election department sources here today said that observers of Dhanpur (CM's constituency), Sonamura, Boxnagar and Nalchar in the sub-division found both the parties had used government property without permission for their political campaign.

The sector officers of the concerned constituencies had lodged complaints against the candidates for violation of The Tripura Prevention and Defencement of Property Act in the local police stations.

Meanwhile, the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has asked all the political parties of the state to follow the norms of election code to conduct a free, fair and transparent poll in Tripura.
