CITU to go on nationwide strike on May 7
New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) The Committee of Central Public Sector Trade Unions (CPSTU) today said it will go on a nationwide one-day strike on May 7, to demand against divestment and increment of wages in PSUs.
CPSTU, that represents trade unions of central public sector workers, has decided to go on a countrywide strike to be preceded by phased programme of campaign and agitation, a statement said.
The body is against disinvestment/privatisation and contractorisation/ outsourcing in PSUs.
It has demanded that tenure of the wage agreement should not be more than five years.
It said that the relativity between workers and executives in pay and benefits turned widely adverse during last round of wage negotiations, must be restored.
CPSTU said the annual increment system as percentage of basic pay should be calculated cumulatively every year.
There should be wage rise for the contract workers in PSUs ensuring minimum salary and benefits available to the permanent workers in their respective PSUs. The Dearness Allowance (DA) should be merged with 50 per cent the basic pay with effect from April 1, 2004.
The committee also demanded financial and policy support for the revival of sick PSUs and wage revision for the concerned employees. All vacancies for workman category in PSUs should be filled through fresh recruitment of regular workers.
