Chin diaspora observes 60th national day
Aizawl, Feb 20 (UNI) The Chin community celebrated the 60th Chin National Day with rest of the world here today with a hope to return to their homeland in Myanmar.
The community under the aegis of Chin National Council(CNC) took a pledge to overthrow the military rule in 'Chinland' as they had done away with feudalism 60 years ago.
''We promise to overthrow the military junta in Myanmar, as we did to the feudal system sixty years ago. We call for an unity among the Chins across the world,'' CNC office-in-charge Salai Vanlianthang said.
The Chin National Day was first observed in 1948 to mark the end of feudal system in the Chin state.
Oppressed by the Myanmar military junta, the Chin people have fled their homeland and taken refugee in several parts of the world.
