New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Welcoming the victory of the democratic forces in the general elections in Pakistan and an end to a decade- old dictatorial rule, the BJP today expressed the hope that the new government would work for a negotiated and peaceful settlement of all issues between the two countries.
In a statement, BJP President Rajnath Singh said it was also expected from the new Pakistani rulers to make a constructive contribution to regional peace and cooperation.
He hoped that the democratic forces in Pakistan would exercise proper democratic control over their Army, which the BJP held responsible for the Kargil war and continued cross border terrorism against India.
Exuding confidence that the new rulers would take proper care of the minorities, particularly the Hindus, in Pakistan, the party, however, expressed concern over the "very limited" role of the minorities in the elections.
