7 labourers killed as truck overturns

Eluru, Feb 20 (UNI) Seven labourers were killed on the spot and six seriously injured when the truck in which they were travelling overturned at Satyanarayanapuram village, 15 km from here, on the Chennai-Kolkata National highway early today.

According to police, 13 farm labourers boarded the truck at Ramavaram village in Jaggampet mandal of East Godavari district for going to Hanuman Junction in Krishna District late last night. When the truck neared Satyanarayanapuram village, the driver lost control and hit the median which overturned the vehicle.

The deceased identified as Parvata Apparao (32), Asiti Nookaraju (22), Pitla Veerraju (18), Kola Ganesh (17), Lingamsetty Suresh (16), Thotakura Ganeswara Rao(17) and Neelam Veerababu (22), hailed from Ramavaram village.

The condition of all the injured shifted to the Eluru Government Hospital were stated to be critical, the police said.
