VB recommends criminal cases against scores of officials
Chandigarh, Feb 19 (UNI) The Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has recommended registration of criminal cases against five gazetted officers, fifteen non gazetted official and 84 others for their being found guilty in the enquiries conducted by the Bureau during the month of December 2007.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman of Bureau said that it had also recommended recovery of Rs 4,57,290 and registration of cases and initiation of departmental action against the 39 defaulters.
He said that the Bureau had caught red handed 14 officers and officials while accepting illegal gratification ranging from Rs.400 to Rs.60, 000. He said that Jagdish Chander, Sub Inspector was convicted and sentenced for eight years imprisonment and fined Rs. 18,000 by the Court of Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ), Gurgaon.
Besides, Assistant Sub Inspector Chattar Mal was convicted and sentenced for two years imprisonment and fined Rs. 4000 by the Court of Special Judge (SJ), Bhiwani during this period, he said.
