SC directs govt to clarify on land allotment for Appu Ghar
New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed the DDA and the Land and Development Office to inform it by March 27 whether the government is prepared to allot alternative land to International Amusement Park Limited for setting up an amusement park after the closure of Appu Ghar at Pragati Madan.
A bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat, P Sadhasivam and Aftab Alam issued the direction after the counsel for the company which was running Appu Ghar submitted that it was prepared to pay the market price if alternative land is allotted in the close vicinity of Appu Ghar which was closed last Sunday.
The apex court directed the two agencies dealing with the land allotment in Delhi to clarify their stand in the issue.
Twelve acres of land including the site of Appu Ghar has been handed over to the Supreme Court under the apex court order for constructing an administrative block and auditorium.
Out of 12 acres of land about 1.5 acres will go Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited for being used by the Delhi Metro.
DDA had earlier suggested three sites in High Court of Delhi for shifting of Appu Ghar namely at Rohini, Dwarka and Badarpur border.
