Bhopal, Feb 19: Senior Bharatiya Janshakti (BJ) leader Prahlad Patel today said he had received a proposal to join the Congress but he turned it down as it is not his nature to change parties as cloths.
Talking to UNI here, Mr Patel, while replying to a question, admitted that a senior Congress leader had approached him with the proposal.
On whether there was possibility of his return to the BJP due to his argument with BJ President Uma Bharti, he said parting with the BJP was well-thought decision and he had no conflict in the mind over it. The chapter remains closed.
Regarding his being sidelined due to confrontation with Ms Bharti, Mr Patel said he would remain in the ship as a captain till the end.
Replying to a question, he said the party base has weakened in Madhya Pradesh in its attempt to search for its possibilities on the national front. However, the BJ would affect the possibilities of the Congress and the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.
Predicting a hung assembly, the BJ leader said his target was to contest the next assembly elections and get elected to the Vidhan Sabha so that he could strengthen the voice of peasants and deprived sections.
