Orissa assembly adjourned in face of opp protest
Bhubaneswar, Feb 18 (UNI) The naxalite issue rocked the state assembly for the second day today and the speaker had to adjourn the house after the opposition's continuous demand for a special debate on the issue.
As soon as the Assembly was in session, Opposion leader J B Patnaik demanded a special debate on the issue, suspending the question hour.
Speaker Maheshwar Mahanty did not agree to the demand.
As a result the entire opposition led by the Congress rushed to the well and shouted slogans disrupting the business of the house.
With the opposition continuing their protest, Mr Mahanty adjourned the house till 1230.
On Saturday the opposition demanded Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's resignation following the Maoist attack.
There was pandemonium in the assembly throughout the day. The Congress said the latest attacks so close to the state Capital was a worrying sign.
