Jyoti breaks 2-million US$ barrier,Indians dominate the Asian tour

New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) Ace pro Jyoti Randhawa hit a new career milestone when he broke the two million dollar barrier in career earnings as the Indians dominated the Asian Tour's Order of Merit race, claiming six of the top ten spots.

The significant Indian flavour in the top-five follows Jeev Milkha Singh's rise into second place. Jeev, the 2006 Asian Tour number one, earned 133, 330 dollar after finishing second in Indonesia.

Compatriot, S S P Chowrasia remained firmly on top of the rankings with 416, 660 dollar following his stunning victory at the Emaar-MGF Indian Masters two weeks ago.

The other steady movers were India's Digvijay Singh who with 115, 500 dollar earning was third followed by Gaurav Ghei (73, 640 dollar) in fifth place on the money list while New Zealander Mark Brown is in sixth spot. After his performance on Sunday, Randhawa was ranked seventh and is a mere 220 dollar ahead of Arjun Atwal who is eighth.

Though Randhawa, a former Asian Tour number one, finished joint seventh in Indonesia, he raised his total career earnings to 2, 009, 509 dollar and became only the second player after Thai star Thongchai Jaidee to surpass 2 million dollar. Thongchai leads the career earnings chart with 2, 605, 237 dollar.

The 35-year-old Randhawa, a six-time winner in Asia, extended his steady start to the year where he picked up 26,000 dollar from the season opening Emaar-MGF Indian Masters two weeks ago and maintained his momentum in Jakarta where he closed with a superb eight-under-par 62.

Thailand's Prom Meesawat, With 81, 060 dollar in the bank this season, moved to fourth place on the Order of Merit thanks to his third place result in Jakarta.
