Blind MNS activist arrested
Mumbai, Feb 18 (UNI) City police today arrested a visually impaired Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activist for his alleged involvement in the recent violence here.
Vinod Parsuram Angule (36), who runs a telephone booth at Vashi in Navi Mumbai, was arrested from his residence at Nagpada in South Central Mumbai, police said.
Vinod's father, Parsuram Angule, told newspersons outside the Bhoiwada Court that at around 0130 hrs, Vinod came home along with his friend after closing his STD booth. As soon as he arrived, policemen in plain clothes picked him up and took him to the Shivaji Park Police station.
Police said Vinod was allegedly involved in violence and had tried to the obstruct the police from discharging their duty.
He was booked under sections 143, 145, 147, 149, 323, 336 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Later, he was produced before the seventh Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Bhoiwada, which released him on a cash bail of Rs 3,000.
