Bail plea rejected in spurious liquor case
Alibaug, Feb 18 (UNI) A local court today rejected the bail application of the four accused in the spurious liquor case, in which 25 people of the district had died last month.
The police had arrested four people--Subhash Ganeshmal Oswal, the wholesale liquor dealer, his brother Jayant Ganeshmal Oswal, the retailer and Jayant's servants, Dattatreya Chandrakant Musale and Vilas Chandrakant Musale in this connection on February 1.
The four were remanded to police custody till February 8 and later shifted to juducial custody.
On January 30, some people near Pali village of the district, who had consumed liquor, became ill. They were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital, but 25 of them died.
Their lawyer Datta Khanvilkar had filed a bail application, which came up for hearing before the court today. But the application was rejected by Judge Mr Borthankar considering seriousness of their offence.
