9 Shops gutted in Major fire in N Kashmir market
Srinagar, Feb 18: Nine shops were gutted in a devastating fire in the Iqbal market at Kupwara in north Kashmir while one person was injured in a road accident.
Official sources said the fire broke out in the Iqbal Market last night and before the flames could be brought under control, it engulfed nine shops. However, timely action by the local people and fire tenders saved a nearby temple.The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained they said, adding no one was injured in the incident.
A kitchen and a cowshed were damaged in another fire incident at Chandhara in Pulwama district early this morning.
In a separate accident, a man was injured when he was hit by a vehicle at Kaka Sarai chowk. He was hospitalised.
