Talking to newspersons here, Peravai state president K Chandrasekaran said the government had earmarked a site of 0.65 acre and assigned it to South Indian Film Artistes Association, but the proposal had not progressed for the last two years.
Mr Karunanidhi had made an announcement on the issue in the State Assembly on April 12, 2005, he added.
Mr Chandrasekaran said the government should take steps soon and Peravai was seeking an appointment with Mr Karunanidhi in this regard.
A resolution was also adopted at the Peravai's Tiruchirapalli district unit, demanding the government to install life-size-statues of the thespian at all the district headquarters and the city corporations, he added.
He said sustained efforts of the Peravai would materialise, as soon the statues of the renowned actor would be unveiled at Thanjavur and Tiruchirapalli cities.
