ICC Chief Executives to meet in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 19-20

By Staff

Dubai, Feb 17 (UNI) The International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executives' Committee (CEC) will meet in Kuala Lumpur on February 19-20 to discuss a range of issues, some of which will be considered by the ICC Board when it meets next month.

The issues to be discussed during the meeting include the format of the ICC cricket world cup in 2011 and the use of technology in decision making.

According to the proposal, the captain of the fielding team or the batting side, as the case may be, will be entitled to a limited number of occasions to request the on-field umpire to review his decision in consultation with the television umpire.

The proposal has been produced following directions from the ICC Cricket Committee and suggests the trialling of an umpire decision review system during the Test series when south Africa visit England later this year.

CEC will review this proposal and make a recommendation to the ICC Board. If the trial is given the go-ahead by the Board, the final playing condition will be developed in consultation with the ICC Cricket Committee.

The CEC will also discuss a range of issues arising out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL).
