Agartala, Feb.17 : Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi on Sunday criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for terming the Congress Party's pre-poll alliance with the Indigenous Nationalist Party (INPT) in Tripura as alliance with the extremists.

Dasmunsi, who is also a Member of the Lok Sabha from Raiganj in West Bengal, criticised the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led Left Front Government in the State of having failed on all fronts.

Dasmunsi criticised the CPI-M for the Nandigram massacre. He said it was not only a tragedy for West Bengal or the country but for human rights' history. "It has written a shameful chapter," he said.

Over the issue of militants hibernating in the neighbouring countries to carry out anti-India activities, Dasmunsi admitted that militant camps existed in Bangladesh and Pakistan, a fact that had been recognised by international agencies.

He indicated that just like previous years, the upcoming budget (February 29) would be more pro-people.

Speaking over the compulsions behind the price hike in petrol and diesel prices, Dasmunsi said fuel price should have been increased six months ago because during the past four years, crude oil prices had increased 100 times in the international market.

He suggested that if the Left Front wanted to serve public, the Left-run State governments should consider reducing surcharge to ease fuel price hike.
