CPI leader Govinda Pillai passes away
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 17 (UNI) Senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leader K Govinda Pillai died at the Medical College Hospital here following a brief illness. He was 83 and is survived by a son and daughter.
Born to Kesava Pillai and Kalyani Amma at Perinadu in Kollam district, Pillai started his political life while he was a student. He had served as political secretary and later private secretary to Mr C Achutha Menon, when he was the Chief Minister of Kerala. Pillai, who held the positions of CPI State Secretariat member, National Council member and also Lokajanatipatya Yovajana Federation Vice-President, was a State Council member of the party.
CPI State Secretary Veliyan Bharghavan condoled the death of the veteran leader.
